Requirements

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns. Sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, and ensure all necessary materials are available for dental procedures.
  • Conduct patient intake, including obtaining comprehensive medical and dental histories, as well as vital signs.
  • Perform all dental assistant duties as permitted under Utah State Law, including dental radiography, taking impressions, pouring models, and operating laboratory equipment.
  • Provide patient education on oral hygiene, preventive care, and plaque control programs.
  • Manage patient documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Address patient inquiries, prescription refills, and post-care follow-ups, ensuring high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked operatory environment, ensuring compliance with sterilization and infection control protocols.
  • Facilitate dental referrals as directed by the dental provider.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Stay updated on the latest dental materials, procedures, safety protocols, and sterilization techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the dental provider or management.
Qualifications:
  • Required:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Dental Assistant in a healthcare setting, dental office, or equivalent.
    • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
    • Proficiency in dental radiology and use of laboratory equipment.
    • Experience working with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Preferred:
    • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
    • Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program.
    • Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification.
    • Familiarity with EMR systems such as USIS, ECW, and Help2.
