Job Description
Place of Performance: The Dental Assistant Services will be performed on-site in the Health Services Department at USP Leavenworth located at 1300 Metropolitan, Leavenworth, Kansas.
Work Schedule: The requirement for these services will consist of an estimated 30 hours per week. It is anticipated the services will be required Monday - Friday, excluding Federal holidays. Normal work hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The facility is expected to require an average of 6 hours per day. A mutually agreed upon schedule between the contractor and the Bureau of Prisons will be determined following award. The Dental Assistant’s schedule shall not exceed 30 hours per week.
Education and Experience: The Dental Assistant shall possess specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school. Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety. The Dental Assistant shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association and have a minimum of two (1) years of experience providing Dental Assistant services. Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable.
Description of Duties: All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Dental Assistant Services, and compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations. The contractor shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Joint Commission (JC) and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions. The contractor’s performance shall be monitored by the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR). The contractor must be able to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial and ethnic backgrounds. The Dental Assistants must possess the ability to collect and track data and enter data into the Agency’s electronic system and track scheduling of patient care and must have knowledge and experience in maintaining patient medical records and confidentiality.
Compensation: $21.57 per hour plus an additional $4.57 per hour for Health & Wellness. Think of it as $26.14 per hour. Up to 56 hours of Sick Leave per year, 11 paid Federal Holidays. Paid Vacation available after one year of service and Medical, Dental, Vision and Disability Insurance is available.
