Summary:
Performs a variety of technical functions. Assists the dentist with all procedures, and meets the dental needs of patients. Actively participates in department performance improvements.
Responsibilities:
1. Assists the dentist with instrument passing. Prepares restorative material impressions for dentures. Prepares models to ensure effective high quality treatment is rendered.
2. Takes and develops x-rays. Accurately mounts & labels radiographs with patient's name & date after development.
3. Charts dentists instructions at chair-side to assist with developing treatment plans. Explains treatment plan, need for oral hygienic and post-operative instructions to patients to ensure patient understanding of plan at point of service.
4. Greets and seats patients. Verifies with patient that all information is correct & up to date.
5. Checks all sterilizers for proper operation.
6. Adheres to universal precaution policies. Always wears established protective gear when working. Thoroughly washes hands regularly throughout shift regardless of work assignment. Act appropriately in regard to radiation, health & saftey protocols.
7. Is fully familiar with operation of all department equipment and constantly follows safety standards established within the department. Notifies lead assistant immediately of any equipment malfunction.
8. Consistently notifies lead assistant of low level of products, outages can be avoided.
9. Uses reference resources in the department to answer questions or begin to solve problems/patient complaints. Documents patient complaints according to policy. Offers solutions or alternatives to ensure customer satisfaction.
10. Actively participates in department performance improvements.
11. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Radiation Health and Safety Certificate
Desired: Certified Dental Assistant, 3 - 5 years work experience.
