DESCRIPTION

Decypher is seeking qualified Phlebotomy Technicians to support the mission at NMCSD

RESPONSIBILITIES

Shall be able to read, write, speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.

Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.

Be a U.S citizen. SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS THE CONTRACT EMPLOYEE SHALL PERFORM BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO: The contracted Certified Phlebotomist will provide the following services and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth by the MTF, and IAW JC guidelines to include:

Properly identifying and label specimens.

Maintaining sanitary standards to prevent the transmission of disease.

Selecting and implementing the proper, age-appropriate collection techniques.

Ensuring that samples are properly prepared for laboratory analysis.

Sending specimens to the correct testing locations.

Updating patient records. OTHER TASKS AND RESPONSIBLITIES THE CONTRACT EMPLOYEE SHALL PERFORM BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Ensure compliance with standard of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment MTF and IAW JC guidelines. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.

Complete orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with unit guidelines.

When assigned, will serve, and participate in committees, functions, and other meetings. Provide relevant and timely information and assists with decision making and process improvement.

Will report to the Director of Laboratory Services, or Director of the ASBBC for phlebotomists assigned to mobile blood drives.

As required, participate in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.

Physically helping with the setup and breakdown of mobile blood drives equipment and supplies, able to move/ lift a modest amount of weight (40 lbs.)

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree/Education (5.2.4): Graduation from an accredited training program resulting in certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), Health and Human Services or American Medical Certification

Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): See Exhibit 5

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience.

Board Certification (5.2.6.4.4): See Exhibit 5.
