Teaches Phlebotomy courses within the Phlebotomy Program. May teach a range of subjects including, but not limited to Medical Terminology, Medical Law & Ethics, Anatomy & Physiology, Communication and Documentation, and EKG.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
* Associates degree in a related health occupations area, plus a minimum four year's successful work experience as a phlebotomist, medical technician, RN, or related field;
* OR a minimum of seven years of experience in the occupational area;
* OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Teaching/training experience is preferred.
* Must be certified through a national phlebotomy accrediting body such as ASCP, NHA
* or equivalent.
* Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures,
* backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications: Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
* Work is performed in an office or classroom or lab setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
* Working with ionizing imaging equipment is required.
* May require arm, hand, and finger dexterity to operate a keyboard or other office equipment.
* Requires sufficient visual acuity to recognize alphanumeric characters.
* Requires good hearing and well-developed speaking ability to communicate with staff and students.
Essential Duties:
* Teach Phlebotomy classes in lecture and skills lab settings.
* Prepare and develop materials for classes utilizing approved course outcomes.
* Assign and grade student work; report student attainment of course outcomes.
* Keep abreast of development in subject area and educational technology, innovative teaching techniques, and continuously strive for professional improvement.
* Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable and consistent out-of-class contact with students.
* Use the college Learning Management System to deliver curriculum and communicate with students effectively.
* Work with department chair and program colleagues to develop curriculum. Evaluate and recommend teaching materials.
* Promote student learning and skills attainment. Provide resources and support to students offered by the college as needed.
* Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages. Promote both a classroom environment and a curriculum of equity and inclusivity.
* Interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of a team.
* Participate as assigned in department and advisory meetings.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Salary and Compensation Information:
Courses are paid on a per-credit basis. New Part-time Faculty begin at Step 1 of the payscale, with steps being "rolled" once per term.

As a condition of employment, all new employees are required to be compensated via direct deposit.
