Entry-Level Bioinformatician
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- LIMS Operation and Data Handling:
- Operate Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for data entry, retrieval, and basic reporting
- Handle and organize various types of laboratory and biological data
- Ensure accurate data input and maintain data integrity within LIMS
- Bioinformatic Data Quality Control and Troubleshooting:
- Perform quality control checks on bioinformatic data sets
- Identify and report data inconsistencies or errors
- Assist in troubleshooting data-related issues and propose solutions
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Support the development and maintenance of genomic and proteomic data analysis pipelines
- Assist in processing and analyzing Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data
- Perform basic statistical analyses and visualizations
- Collaborate with team members to understand project requirements and provide support
- Contribute to the preparation of reports on research findings and analyses
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biology, or a related field
- 0-2 years of experience in bioinformatics, data analysis, or laboratory setting (internships considered)
- Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R
- Basic ability to work in Linux/Unix environments
- Experience with NGS data analysis tools (e.g., BWA, GATK, Samtools)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of bioinformatics and computational biology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with LIMS or similar laboratory data management systems
- Basic statistical analysis skills and experience with statistical software
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Experience working with biological databases and public resources
- Understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and data integrity principles
