Job Description
The primary responsibilities of a Gas/Diesel Technician/Mechanic include diagnosing diesel vehicle issues using specialized tools, analyzing test results, and repairing or replacing components related to the engine, steering, transmission, braking, or lighting systems. This role involves working with diesel engines such as Isuzu, Cummins, and Allison, ensuring optimal vehicle performance and compliance with safety and emissions standards.
Responsibilities:
Accurately document work performed on repair orders.
Operate various manufacturer computer programs to conduct diagnostic tests.
Repair and maintain components in light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks, including Isuzu, Cummins, and Allison engines.
Recondition and replace truck parts and components using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and precision measuring instruments.
Perform annual state and federal safety inspections, including checking safety equipment such as glass, horn, brakes, tire tread, and exterior lights.
Conduct emissions inspections and measure carbon emissions to meet regulatory standards.
Stay current on state and federal regulations, including emissions codes.
Diagnose and repair air and hydraulic brake systems, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning systems, and perform engine mechanical repairs.
Qualifications:
Experience in diagnosing and repairing light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks.
ASE certification is required.
Familiarity with Isuzu, Cummins, and Allison engines.
Experience performing preventative maintenance services. (preferably in a leasing industry)
Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
Ability to lift 50lbs and push/pull up to 75lbs.
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Certifications on either Isuzu or Hino products are a plus.
Ability to pass a pre-employment and random DOT-required drug screening.
