The Data Analyst will play a key role in building and analyzing critical reports to support the data-driven operations of our higher education technology solutions. Working closely with the senior report analysts, database engineers, and development teams, this role will help define reporting requirements for our servicing system, develop insightful Tableau reports, and analyze performance trends. The ideal candidate will bring strong SQL skills, experience with Tableau, and the ability to transform data into actionable recommendations for strategic improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report Development & Analysis
- Design, build, and maintain Tableau reports and dashboards, focusing on performance, forecasting, and operational metrics.
- Utilize SQL and other query tools to extract, analyze, and compile data from multiple sources.
- Create data visualizations and reports for various stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and insightfulness in every deliverable.
- Data Analysis & Business Recommendations
- Analyze cohort data to assess performance over time.
- Use statistical analysis, trend analysis and forecasting, data visualization and modeling, risk analysis, or other methods to analyze information and develop practical solutions to fit specific situations.
- Develop forecasting reports to predict trends in defaults and delinquencies over time.
- Perform detailed analyses on payment patterns (e.g., auto-pay adoption, payment volumes, timing) and inventory levels, providing actionable insights for operational improvement.
- Support the team with an understanding of business and data requirements, and iteratively design visualizations for internal business stakeholder presentation.
- Use AI or Data Modeling tools to help inform operational decisions.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication
- Work closely with the Senior Report Analyst, development teams, and database engineers to ensure reporting infrastructure aligns with business needs.
- Collaborate with administrative departments and senior team members to define and refine reporting requirements and deliver actionable insights.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly and concisely, supporting data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organization.
- Work with Data Engineering teammates to review design, code, and test plans to increase knowledge and application of key frameworks and methodologies.
- Data Management & Process Improvement
- Assist in documenting standard reporting processes and ensure high-quality data management across reporting systems.
- Identify opportunities for improving reporting efficiency and effectiveness, recommending solutions where appropriate.
- Verify and validate data for accuracy to ensure precise analysis results and apply a wide range of analytical data-mining techniques to produce accurate data sets.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
- Previous experience with Tableau or other data visualization tool
- 1-3 years of experience in data analysis, report writing, or a similar analytical role.
- Previous experience in higher education or financial services is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Experience:
- Tableau Cloud reporting services.
- SQL or similar querying languages.
- MS SQL Microsoft Azure Cloud Services (Azure GCC-HIGH a Plus)
- Source Control (GitHub preferred).
