Overview:

ExamWorks is looking for a Data Govrenance Analyst. This person must live in the Atlanta, GA area due to in-office time as-needed.

The Data Governance Analyst, under the direction of the Director of IT Security will assist with implementing policies, rules, and systems that direct the use of data within the company. The Analyst will help build data governance based on industry related frameworks which increase organizational efficiency, optimize data management practices, and comply with regulatory standards. This position demonstrates a collaborative approach and strives to achieve superior service.



Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and identify all data assets within the business; identify owners, classify data, and document retention requirements based on the Information management policy, regulatory laws, and contractual obligations.
  • Define and enforce data governance standards ensuring data quality, consistency, and accuracy throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Ensure that data has exhausted its retention requirements and is no longer maintained in the active systems; coordinate the removal of such data and communicate with different technical disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Assist management in the development and implementation of data standards, including data protection and security. Document and implement standards that define how data should be structured, stored, and accessed to meet both operational needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Help establish mechanisms to detect, report, and address any discrepancies or breaches in data. Collaborate with applicable personnel to guarantee adherence to established data governance procedures.
  • Review and refine strategies that bolster data accuracy and trustworthiness. Collaborate with IT teams to diminish data redundancies and overlaps.
  • Engage with key business stakeholders to assist with establishing fundamental data governance processes and procedures both at project onset and on an ongoing basis.
  • Help to design KPIs that accurately gauge data governance success. Regularly report on indicators, providing insights to peers and stakeholders about the state of data governance.
  • Work with business owners on data migration and governance challenges, provide analysis and expertise in information management and recommending strategic solutions.
  • Help to identify and deploy enterprise data best practices such as data scoping, metadata standardization, lineage, data deduplication, mapping and transformation, and business validations.
  • Assist with the development and management of data glossaries and data owner matrices to establish enterprise data standards pertaining to the use of critical data.
  • Work with management to ensure issues raised by business and functional data governance leaders are resolved and that data objectives are met.
  • Grow, mature, and enforce modern data documentation standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in information systems preferred
  • A minimum of two years experience, preferably in the healthcare or insurance field
  • Data Privacy Certification is preferred but not required
  • Must have a strong understanding of data governance tools, principles, and technologies
  • Must be familiar with the legal and regulatory landscape for enterprise data
  • Must be able to follow instructions and respond to managements directions accurately
  • Must maintain proficiency in project management as the skill becomes indispensable, especially when coordinating tasks with IT teams, business leaders, privacy, compliance, and legal departments
  • Must possess advanced skills in MS Word and MS Excel, including MS PowerPoint
  • Must have knowledge of GRC tools for data discovery, process assessments, data discovery, and identify and manage data risks. Experience with MS Purview is a plus
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness. Look for ways to improve and promote quality and monitor your own work to ensure quality is met
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be able to demonstrate team behavior and promote a collaborative environment
