Position Title: Seasonal Visitor Services Assistant

Department: Visitor Services

Reports to: Visitor Services Manager & Assistant Manager

FLSA Status: Part-Time Seasonal, Non-exempt

Compensation: $16.50 per hour

Term & Schedule: January 2025 – up to 10 month term (16–30 hours/week, three to four shifts/week)


Position Description:

Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) seeks to fill several part-time, seasonal positions for Visitor Services assistants. We are seeking outgoing, friendly, and professional candidates with excellent attention to detail and a true desire to welcome and assist the Garden’s visitors.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide welcoming and professional service to all visitors.
  • Communicate BBG policies, programs, and events to members and visitors.
  • Promote membership to visitors.
  • Assist in handling point-of-service operations, including ticket scanning, ticket and membership sales, and handling cash and credit card transactions.
  • Maintain an excellent standard of customer service.
  • Perform any other departmental or related duties and special projects as directed by supervisor.


Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must enjoy working with people; friendly, outgoing personality
  • Ability to maintain focus and a positive demeanor during the Garden’s busiest and slowest visitation times
  • Cashier experience strongly preferred
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
  • Willingness to work outside and stand/remain active for an entire shift a plus
