Position Summary:

The Warehouse Lead will oversee daily warehouse operations, coordinate order fulfillment activities, and ensure a safe and productive work environment. This role requires hands-on leadership to train and guide team members, maintain high morale, and ensure operational goals are met. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in warehouse operations, forklift use, and yard hostler driving, with prior leadership experience.

Responsibilities:

• Effectively lead workforce in unloading and reloading inbound trucks/containers and sort if needed using forklift and by hand with care to ensure no cargo damage
• Effectively lead workforce in the proper devanning of containers for U.S. Customs Inspection
• Lead workforce in a productive, safe and efficient manner
• Train new employees on the proper devanning, loading, unloading of cargo Check in containers, devan/reload containers per US Customs directions
• Effectively read and evaluate Bills of Lading, Shipping Manifests and Delivery Orders Communicate effectively and interface with the Mercer management team and US Customs Agents
  Physically demanding; requires critical thinking & problem-solving skills
• Adhere to quality and customer service standards set forth by the company
• Identify safety hazards in the workplace
• Maintain cleanliness of warehouse to include picking up garbage, sweeping floors, keeping warehouse aisles clear of debris and maintain outside grounds
• Other duties as assigned
  

Requirements:

• Have a good command of the English language, able to speak, read, write effectively.
• Self-directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision.
• Forklift experience required
• Yard Hostling experience required
• Possess Leadership skills including organization, motivation and team building
• Detail-oriented, high accuracy

Clean driving record & background check
Leads by example in all things
Teachable; able to follow instructions
Able to lift 50+ pounds
Able to read, understand and evaluate Bills of Lading, Shipping Manifests and Delivery Orders Reliable transportation to & from work
High School Graduate (GED)

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a customs/bonded warehouse preferred
Detail-oriented with high accuracy

Work Environment:

• Outdoor yard operations and indoor warehouse environment.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions while performing outdoor tasks.
• Requires flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and overtime as necessary.
