Job Summary:


The Warehouse Clerk position is responsible for accurately entering receipts for all items that enter the warehouse, including internal and external shipments, into the warehouse management system. In addition, this role requires transferring items between warehouse locations, placing phone calls to purchasing and vendors to resolve shipment variances, processing return authorizations for orders, and resolving order discrepancies between shipments and expected receipts.


Essential Functions:

  • Enter receipts for all items that enter the warehouse, including internal and external shipments.
  • Transfer items between warehouse locations as needed.
  • Place phone calls to purchasing and vendors to resolve shipment variances and discrepancies.
  • Process return merchandise authorizations (RMAs) for orders as necessary.
  • Verify and reconcile quantities and descriptions of items received with purchase orders or other documents.
  • Ensure that all items are accurately labeled and stored in the correct location within the warehouse.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as purchasing, customer service, receiving, accounting, and shipping to ensure that orders are processed and all items ordered were received.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines for data entry, inventory management, and record keeping.
  • Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers regarding order status, shipment tracking, and other related topics.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions and ensure that data is entered into the warehouse management system accurately and on a timely basis.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Requirements:

Skills and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail: Must be able to accurately count and record inventory levels.
  • Mathematical skills: Basic arithmetic skills are necessary for accurately counting inventory and ensuring that quantities are recorded correctly.
  • Time management skills: The person should be able to efficiently manage their time in order to complete the counting process in a timely manner.
  • Communication skills: Good communication skills are necessary in order to work effectively with others, in person, by phone and email.
  • Organization skills: The person should be able to keep track of inventory levels, discrepancies, and system updates in a organized and systematic manner.
  • Ability to work independently: The person should be able to work independently and make decisions based on their own observations and knowledge of product and inventory systems.
  • Computer skills: Familiarity with computer systems and software, such as Microsoft Office and inventory management software, is necessary.
  • Dependability: Reliability and consistency of attendance, punctuality, and completion of assigned tasks according to established standards and expectations with little supervision.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least one year of experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and experience with warehouse management systems or inventory management systems is a plus, such as SysPro and Translation.

  • Physical dexterity: The employee must be able to bend, twist, and reach while occasionally handling boxes. The employee is also required to stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, and to hear. 80-90% of the employee’s time will spent sitting at a desk using a computer. The employee will need the ability to use a mouse and keyboard for a majority of the day.
  • Lifting: The employee must be able to lift and move boxes weighing up to 30 lbs frequently, and boxes weighing up to 50 lbs rarely.
  • Vision: The vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposure to elements: The employee will be working in a warehouse environment and may be exposed to varying temperatures and inclement weather conditions. There will also be frequent exposure to dirt and dust.
  • Noise level: The employee will be exposed to a moderate noise levels in the workplace for the majority of the day, due to the constant use of forklift and hand-held power tools.
