Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Shipping and Receiving
    1. Greet and direct delivery drivers to dock area
    2. Receive, inspect for damage, record and tag for inventory tracking purposes
    3. Inspect, load and secure outgoing freight and record as necessary for inventory tracking purposes
    4. Sort and place freight in designated areas according to warehouse standards/requirements,
  • Inventory Controls
    1. Assist in maintaining an organized warehouse
    2. Assist in maintaining proper inventory controls of consumables; order and restock as needed
    3. Under direction of warehouse supervisor or superintendent, conduct periodic physical inventory counts,
  • Building, Office, Warehouse and Grounds Maintenance
    1. Perform light housekeeping and spill clean-up as needed in office
    2. Resolve routine office maintenance and warehouse equipment issues
    3. Empty trash into dumpsters, ensure parking lot cleanliness
    4. Stock restrooms when paper products are low
  • Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and request same from employees, delivery drivers and customers
  • Consistent and prompt attendance, is reliable and dependable
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or requested by Supervisors, Superintendents, Foreman, Managers and Office Personnel

Required Experience and/or Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic mechanical skills required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Forklift Operator Certification Preferred
  • 1-2 yrs. previous warehouse experience
  • Good verbal and written communication, organizational, time management & mathematical skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Team player, seeks out work rather than waiting to be told what to do

Language Skills:

Ability to read, write, verbalize and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English.

Mathematical Skills:

Must have mathematical skills equivalent to those required under degree requirement.

Physical and Visual Activities:

Standing, Walking, Sitting, Lifting, Carrying, Balancing, Stooping, Reaching, Handling, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, Acuity-Far, Acuity-Near, Depth Perception, and Field of Vision.

Physical Demands:

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb and balance.

Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather); risk of electrical shock; work with explosives and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
