Position Summary

The Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of facility warehouse and maintenance activities including will call, shipping and receiving, inventory, people management, planning and problem-solving and assisting the Warehouse Manager.

This position coordinates with multiple departments to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and in a timely manner.  Assist in the responsibility for ensuring Inventory Control policies and procedures are implemented and reinforced through the training, development and oversight of staff.  All efforts are to support a safe working environment and ensure a smooth distribution of goods through the facility.

 

Essential Responsibilities, includes but are not limited to

  • Assists the Warehouse Manager with some or all of the following:
  • Maintain physical condition of warehouse and external grounds to ensure a safe, clean and presentable environment.
  • In partnership with management, plan and optimize warehouse layout to ensure inventory location accuracy and ease of workflow.
  • Lead, develop and train staff on warehousing and inventory control practices and procedures for increased and error-free production.
  • Partner with management to implement and continuously improve digital warehouse management system (WMS).
  • Ensure federal, state and local regulatory compliance as it relates to warehousing and shipping/receiving functions.
  • Coordinate and assist with managing daily cycle counting efforts as well as report, monitor and review daily inventory adjustments and changes.
  • Monitor order workflow, work completed, error rates and related metrics.
  • Resolve inventory issues / discrepancies, problem orders and intercompany transfer issues.
  • Recommend and implement process changes to minimize inventory loss and support the movement of dead stock.
  • Assist in directing employees on cycle counting, auditing, researching, quality inspections, customer returns, shortages and inventory adjustments at the facility.
  • Identify issues as well as opportunities for improvement related to purchasing, inventory or processes within the facility. 
  • Establish and maintain courteous, professional and effective communications relationships with suppliers, partners, customers and employees.
  • Manage the preparation and reporting of monthly inventory.
  • Use ERP system and ensure data accuracy to monitor demand and document characteristics of inventory.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum High School Diploma. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • 4 plus years warehouse supervisory/lead experience.
  • 4 plus years inventory and quality control experience.
  • Experience using an ERP and Warehouse Management System, Navision preferred.
  • Experience implementing a warehouse management system, a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of lean principles – 5s workouts, kaizen and/or lean six sigma.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data.
  • Solid judgement along with good decision-making skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure with all levels of management.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5pm
