POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for all samples department functions, including but not limited to database entry, pulling, gathering, and cutting tile, creating tile marketing boards, inventory, and ordering materials and shipping, with the overall goal of providing the highest possible quality and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for arranging various tiles onto display boards following predetermined patterns and gluing tile and mosaic pieces onto cardboard stock, building, and designing custom sample boards.
  • Creates tile marketing boards for shops and showrooms.
  • Responsible for inventory management, including cycle counts, mid-year, and fulfill-years, and understanding inventory and ordering processes.
  • Assists in managing all samples that come into the branch office; organizes/oversees samples, inventory, tracking, receipt of samples, receipt management, and ordering.
  • Responsible for all entry and administration to support the LTL Freight software.
  • Sets up a sample work area, which includes building racking, and shelves and creating labels, ensuring the sample area remains clean and well organized.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the operations and helps identify opportunities to increase efficiency in the day-to-day tasks.
  • Obtains and ships new products as quickly as possible to deploy to the Architectural Surfaces branch.
  • Responsible for shipping samples back to vendors as needed.
  • Serves as the primary contact for all vendor’s sample inquiries.
  • Safely operate forklifts, hoists, and cranes, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Accurately process incoming orders.
  • Load and unload material onto trucks safely and accurately.
  • Stage material for both customer viewing and loading trucks.
  • Inspect, count, and verify all materials/products received against paperwork documentation before unloading trucks/containers. Note any discrepancies in the paperwork.
  • Sign off on all orders and obtain cross-check with co-workers/supervisor.
  • Safely secure all slabs when loading/unloading the truck.
  • Tag and identify material when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including cutting pallets and placing them in dumpsters.

  • Responsible for quality control. Inspect material when loading trucks to ensure customer satisfaction and to ensure content material is in satisfactory condition when unloading containers.
  • Follow and adhere to all Company safety policies and standard operating procedures, including utilizing required PPE.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • 1 Year of Customer Service experience is preferred.
  • LTL Freight experience – comfortable working with different freight software for pickup and delivery.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • 90% active, 60% on your feet.
  • High pace environment.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift to 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to work around equipment that generates noise, vibration, and heat.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions, including seasonally hot or cold and inclement weather.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some Saturdays (dependent on branch hours).
