Job Description

The Warehouse Lead is responsible for receiving, shipping, and storage of product in the warehouse. In addition to current responsibilities of warehouse associate, a team leader works to ensure efficiency and quality within a department and/or shift. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may very dependent upon management.)


Essential Position Functions:

  • Organize and schedule activities for order pick processing, receiving of product, and system interactions.
  • Review all shipments upon arrival and inform supervisor immediately of any damages.
  • Assists in investigating variances and conducts/participates in inventories as needed.
  • Conduct daily warehouse related transactions through ERP/WMS processing system.
  • Oversee monitoring, verification, and validation activities to ensure that all products leaving the facility meet MP&P quality standards.
  • Read and understand work orders as well as verbal instruction for assignment.
  • Identify and select items for shipment using numbers, letters, and RF Scanner.
  • Stack/load pallets using an order selector and/or forklift.
  • Move paper and other items from receiving or warehouse locations to shipping or other designated areas.
  • Stage pallets for loading at proper dock locations.
  • Loading and unloading pallets that contain full cartons as well as broken lots.
  • Stretch-wrap product for safe transportation.
  • Mark all packages with proper identifying information.
  • Meet weekly standards for productivity and accuracy while working in a safe manner. This requires working at a constant pace for an entire shift in a fast-paced, team-based, environment.
  • Perform general warehouse related housekeeping duties.
  • Daily inspections of warehouse equipment.
  • Immediately advise supervisor of any unsafe working conditions.

Lead responsibilities include:

  • Analyze provided daily schedule to adjust staffing needs.
  • Review delivery routes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support supervisor in team development; assisting with training, assessment, and coaching of associates.
  • Assess and monitor department team members to ensure accountability.
  • Assists in observations, employee reviews, and disciplinary actions. Provides recommendations on hiring, performance review and disciplinary actions to warehouse supervisor.
  • Responsible for communicating and training team members on proper procedures and alerting management team members when co-workers do not comply.
  • Cross trained to perform all tasks in the warehouse and certified to operate all equipment in the warehouse
  • May be called upon to share special industry techniques on how to use tools and equipment, or tips on how to improve quality or speed of production.
  • Instruct teams on the proper use of safety equipment and emergency procedures, when necessary.
  • Directly supports management team members by providing knowledge, experience, motivation, support and advice.
  • Team leaders work to ensure efficiency and quality within a department and/or shift.
  • Perform any warehouse operation functions as needed.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year warehouse experience (2+ years preferred)
  • Must have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.
  • ERP related software experience preferred.
  • Must be able to efficiently use a Windows-based computer.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple priorities with a strong mindfulness in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to work alone, and with a team in a collaborative manner.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English, for safe and effective performance of the job and business operations.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

  • Regularly required to walk and stand continuously for long periods of time.

  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Ability to push/pull/leverage up to 75 lbs.

Mental Demands

  • Regularly required to use written and oral communication skills.
  • Will interact regularly with managers and staff regarding warehouse related concerns.
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.

Work Environment

  • Employee works primarily in a warehouse environment with periods of extreme hot and/or cold.
