Job Description
Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Material Handler to join our warehouse team within a leading plastic extrusion manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for efficiently and safely handling materials and supplies needed for the production process. This role involves inventory management, transportation of raw materials, and maintaining the organization of the warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Handling: Load and unload materials from trucks, storage areas, and the production floor.
- Inventory Management: Accurately track, move, and store raw materials and finished goods. Conduct regular inventory counts and ensure stock levels are maintained.
- Warehouse Organization: Ensure that materials are organized, labeled, and stored in the appropriate locations to facilitate efficient access and minimize production delays.
- Support Production: Deliver raw materials to the production line and assist in the removal of finished goods. Communicate with production teams to ensure timely material supply.
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols for material handling, including proper lifting techniques, safe use of equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks), and maintaining a clean work environment.
- Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Quality Control: Inspect materials for defects or damage and report any issues to supervisors. Ensure all materials are compliant with company specifications.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of material receipts, transfers, and shipments. Assist with labeling, tagging, and organizing inventory.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the warehouse team, production staff, and logistics teams to ensure a smooth and efficient material flow.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in warehouse operations or logistics are a plus.
- Proven experience as a material handler, warehouse worker, or in a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with plastic extrusion or manufacturing processes is a plus.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling tools.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills to manage inventory records and communicate effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and stand or walk for long periods.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and report hazards.
Working Conditions:
- Warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and potential noise levels.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on safety.
- Full-time position with occasional overtime required based on production needs.
