Operate heavy equipment to move construction materials, earth, and rock on heavy-civil construction sites to build highways, roads, bridges, airport runways, power generation facilities, dams, levees, other earthen structures, etc. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform daily pre-operation/inspection checks and complete daily inspection reports. Immediately report malfunctioning equipment/components and safety defects to supervisor. Complete tasks, assignments and activities given in English. Coordinate machine actions with verbal (English) instructions or hand signals. Well developed ability to verbally communicate. Move levers, push pedals, rotate steering wheels, turn valves to activate hydraulic lines powering booms, sticks, cylinders and heavy equipment implements. Proficiently and safely operate and maneuver heavy equipment in remote locations, variety of terrain, and ground conditions, tight spaces and around light or high volume traffic areas. Comply with company policies and procedures. Travel in and around the company trade area: (CO, MT, ND, NE, SD and WY) POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Minimum three years experience operating one or more of the following pieces of heavy equipment: blade, dozer, scraper, haul truck, excavator, loader on highway construction/mining projects or equivalent heavy-civil construction site(s). Must pass pre-employment drug test prior to working. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ABILITIES Position requires employee to frequently perform some or all of the following activities and movements: sit, twist, bend, reach outward, reach above head and shoulders, climb, lift 30-50 pounds, bounced, vibrated or moved in equipment cab. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is outdoors. Working conditions range from frigid to hot temps, high winds, flying dust, slipping hazards, rain, snow, sleet, frequently exposed to loud noise from heavy equipment and machinery.
