We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Maintenance Execution team based out of our Gaston, SC facility.
Responsibilities
The Heavy Equipment Operator will be reportable to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor and have responsibilities for the following tasks:
- Operates a variety of heavy equipment such as cranes, boom trucks, fork lifts, backhoes, front-end loaders, excavators, and motor graders.
- Assists plant site with maintenance work & heavy equipment requests such as , loading and unloading parts & materialand moving large pallets of inventory from one area to another.
- Transports tools, parts and equipment to and from maintenance sites as needed.
- Inspects heavy equipment before & after use to ensure they are working properlyand fuel equipment as needed.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on equipment such as checking oils, lubricants, and fluids.
- Maintains &Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
- May be required to get certification/trainer status in operation of heavy equipment.
- Supports company's planning and scheduling during routine and shutdown execution.
- Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a heavy equipment operator
- Must have basic computer skills (email, internet, MS office)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of working in a team environment
- Must be able to work overtime, to include nights and weekends, when needed in order to meet deadlines
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Knowledge of industry safety practices and willingness to participate in an advancing safety culture
- Operate heavy equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and procedures.
- Must be on time and exhibit consistent attendance
- Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Certification from a Crane/Heavy Equipment Operator Program
- Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Complete required paperwork, reporting, and other documentation.
- Ensure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner.
- Prior experience operating a variety of heavy equipment
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to make decisions that prevent accidents and damage to property.
- Decision-making abilities.
- Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
- Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Must be able to physically meet job requirements; standing, kneeling, lifting upto 50 lbs
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent vision or the use of prescribed lenses.
- Physical ability to work a strenuous work environment and strength to operate heavy equipment
- Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Experience in an industrial manufacturing facility
- SAP experience
