Dexterity Inc. has an opening for a Director, Hardware Testing and Production Engineering at 1205 Veterans Blvd., Redwood City, California 94063. 40 hrs/wk; 9am - 5pm; M-F. $253,864 - $255,983.

Responsibilities:

Lead end-to-end hardware validation, manufacturing engineering, and process solutions for key design features, including:

  1. Validating hardware design capability and manufacturing/assembly process development.
  2. Evaluating mechanical and electrical designs for functionality, ease of manufacturing, and installation.
  3. Leading the hardware testing strategy, utilizing DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis) to predict failures and generate test plans.
  4. Designing and developing equipment, tooling, and fixtures for manufacturing, testing, and installation.
  5. Working with suppliers to map out process development exercises and secure resources.
  6. Applying PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) to identify potential execution issues and provide recommendations.
  7. Driving the release of design documents, assembly SOPs, test/inspection manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting guides.
  8. Overseeing teams, assigning responsibilities, preparing and managing budgets, and supervising and training engineers.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent), plus 12 years of experience in engineering positions in the hardware manufacturing industry, 5 years of which must include managing/leading teams. Experience must include:

  1. Ensuring product readiness for functionality, ease of mass manufacturing, and installation.
  2. Applying DFMEA to predict failures and generating hardware test plans.
  3. Applying PFMEA to identify issues, optimize manufacturing processes, and ensure readiness to support production ramp.
  4. Creating AutoCAD layouts and technical specifications.
  5. Machine/equipment design conceptualization and engaging with suppliers for design approval.
  6. Preparing/managing budgets for the team.

20% travel in the US, Taiwan, and Mexico.
