The Amazon Devices team designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics, including the best-selling Kindle family of products. We have also produced groundbreaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo.
What will you help us create?

The Role:

As a Senior Power Engineer, you will be responsible for owning the power and energy consumption models, providing inputs to power architecture, and conducting power consumption characterization on multiple projects. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary groups including Product Design, Industrial Design, Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Reliability, and Operations to drive key aspects of engineering of consumer electronics products. You will conduct testing and optimization cycles of complex embedded systems in different use cases. You will be expected to write/update code to interface lab equipment to computers and write scripts to automate the testing. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of power engineering, analog electronics, and microprocessor architecture.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Interact with cross-functional engineering teams across the company.
  2. Dive deep into power-related issues and work with cross-functional teams to solve them.
  3. Participate in schematic and layout reviews.
  4. Address all aspects of power technology readiness, including manufacturability.
  5. Help design and deliver innovative power technology to products.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a hardware or systems engineer.
  • Experience with schematic and layout tools similar to OrCAD and Allegro.
  • Experience with Lab Equipment such as Oscilloscopes, DC Analyzers, and DAQ systems.
  • Experience debugging power issues on embedded electronics devices.
  • Experience using LDOs, SMPS, and power distribution in embedded systems or power and energy consumption modeling and optimization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects.
