Job Purpose
Under the general direction of the SVP, Human Resources and Director, HRBP, the HR Business Partner will be responsible for providing day-to-day Human Resources support in the San Francisco office and all G&A functions. This role acts as the primary HR contact for all of the business group(s) with which they partner, including but not limited to all Employee Engagement, Talent Management, and Rewards Programs, as well as all HR-related compliance; supported by their HR SME peers for each of those specialties.
Duties and Key Accountabilities
- Act as the main point of contact for Human Resources related questions and concerns.
- Educate staff on and maintain compliance of HR and corporate policies and procedures.
- Analyse HR data and metrics to gain insights into employee performance, retention, and engagement.
- Work closely with the HR team in San Francisco corporate headquarters and local management to drive, maintain and/or roll out HR Programs and Systems (including Benefits, Compensation, Recognition, Compliance, Payroll, Employee Engagement, Training and Development, and Performance Management Programs, etc.).
- Collaborate with Pattern leadership and corporate HR to align HR strategies with business goals.
- Provide coaching and counselling to resolve employee relations issues; escalate employee relations issues to the SVP, Human Resources and internal and/or external employment counsel as necessary.
- Assist hiring managers with Onboarding Programs and activities ensuring a positive employee experience (Liaise with Corporate HR, IT, Workplace Operations and Experience, Procurement, as needed).
- Work with hiring managers to write or revise job descriptions.
- Assist Talent Acquisition function, when necessary, with candidate interview scheduling/coordination and participate in candidate interviews.
- Conduct exit interviews and provide collected information to corporate HR in a timely manner.
- Must be a strong taskmaster and ensure that HR projects and tasks (including following up with all parties involved through completion) are completed in a timely manner.
- Cultivate a positive, engaging, and collaborative work environment.
- Travel to various business site locations as needed and headquarters at least once/quarter.
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, a degree in business administration or Human Resources related area is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist at a managerial level, required, with a specialization in Rewards Programs (Compensation, Benefits, and Employee Recognition), preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies and practices, and interest in gaining a thorough understanding of employment law in geographic areas of responsibility.
- Excellent communications, project management, and time management skills.

- Energy experience highly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; Excellent internet research skills.
- Prior experience with application tracking systems, onboarding, HRIS, and performance management software/platforms preferred.
- Basic aptitude in arithmetic, and ability to present numerical data effectively when needed.
The expected starting pay range for this role is $103,000 - $139,000 USD. This range is an estimate and base pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, Pattern’s compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees of all levels.
