ITW Specialty Films, a global division of ITW within the Specialty Segment, manufactures and markets specialized coated films for the Secure ID, Medical Specialty Bag, and Financial Card markets. The division leverages unique core competencies and technologies in films, foils, laminates, and holography to address customer needs. The division operates in 5 manufacturing facilities (US, UK, and Germany), and offers a fun, fast-paced work environment with a dynamic, collaborative, growth-oriented team.
Job DescriptionITW Specialty Films has an exciting opportunity for a motivated HR Manager to support our manufacturing plant in Chicago Heights, IL. This individual will serve as a trusted business partner and be highly engaged with the site management team to provide both day-to-day and strategic support. This role is responsible for all phases of the employee life cycle including attracting, developing, and retaining talent, in addition to fostering a culture where team members can reach their full potential.
While this role will act with autonomy and have direct influence to lead site strategies, this individual will also be an integral member of our global HR team to support divisional initiatives, reporting directly to the Division HR Director. Primary Responsibilities:
- Partners with Operations Manager & site management team on strategy, process improvements, and change management in alignment with the Divisions objective, assisting with communication plans and organizational design.
- Manages full-cycle talent acquisition activities for all non-exempt and exempt roles, from advertising open roles to managing post-offer procedures
- Supports the onboarding experience in conjunction with hiring manager to transition and integrate new employees into the organization
- Supports the performance management cycle, advising and coaching in areas of goal setting, mid-year feedback, and year-end performance reviews
- Participates in compensation planning and conducts and analyzes wage survey data to help ensure a fair and competitive compensation package
- Participates in talent reviews, helps calibrate talent assessments, and supports development plan opportunities and actions
- Serves as the employee engagement champion leveraging the ITW Employee Experience Framework to help drive a high-performing and collaborative culture leveraging the voice of the employee
- Leads Diversity & Inclusion initiatives by consistently and visibly supporting and communicating our D&I commitments
- Manages employee relations situations and investigations with consistency and a sense of urgency, providing coaching and conflict resolution
- Participates on safety committee to help instill an “I own safety” mentality with 0-incident goal
- Provides technical and analytical support in relation to employee benefits administration, compensation administration, and all HRIS system maintenance.
- Process payroll bi-weekly and acts as the liaison for the facility and the finance/corporate payroll teams
- Manage all FMLA, STD, ADA and Workers Compensation cases, in addition to supporting employees through these processes
- Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations to ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are compliant. Reviews HR Handbook regularly in alignment with US HR Team and initiates changes as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar field of study
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within equivalent or similar HR roles. HR experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Ability to travel 5-10%
- Knowledge of legal requirements relative to recruiting, records retention, ADA, FMLA and other standard HR procedures
- Strong business partnership capabilities and influential skills. Ability to learn and adapt in fast-paced business environment and collaborate with respective leaders in strategic planning and execution.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), listening, and presentation skills; Ability to keep team members informed to support shared risk approach and alignment.
- Instills trust and respect, and demonstrates a positive friendly attitude with all levels of the organization.
- Independent and organized work style: excellent time management, strong project management skills, and demonstrates an 80/20 focus in prioritization.
- Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information. Addresses issues with courage.
- Strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to gather and analyze data and present findings with actionable recommendations.

- Work is performed in office and manufacturing work environments.
- Limited physical effort required. Frequent sitting and standing.
- Limited exposure to machinery and flammable substances. Requires PPE (safety shoes and glasses) in manufacturing area.
