Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Quality Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for measuring, recording, and reporting on the quality characteristics of Meldin components. This position requires expertise in using both contact and non-contact measuring tools, as well as performing visual inspections. You will play a key role in managing the calibration program, overseeing incoming material inspections, tracking discrepant materials, and generating customer SQC and process capability reports. Cross-training in other quality roles may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct safety observations and support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) activities.
- Follow safety requirements related to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and equipment operation.
Quality Inspections and Reporting:
- Use contact measuring tools, non-contact measuring tools, and visual inspection techniques to assess quality characteristics of Meldin components.
- Complete first and last article inspections promptly and accurately.
- Generate process capability and SQC reports using Minitab or similar software.
- Read and interpret customer part drawings, understanding GD&T, and develop quality inspection plans.
- Record data and report issues as they arise, escalating problems following the established protocol.
Calibration and Maintenance:
- Manage and maintain the site’s calibration program.
- Perform preventative maintenance on measurement equipment.
- Set up, run, and troubleshoot measurement equipment under standard operating conditions.
Material and Discrepant Material Management:
- Manage the Discrepant Material Reporting (DMR) process.
- Oversee incoming material inspections and ensure quality standards are met.
- Handle raw materials, hazardous waste, and defective parts safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.
Continuous Improvement:
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in quality, cost, output, and delivery.
- Cross-train in other quality roles and act as a reference for quality-related inquiries and recommendations.
- Ensure workspace cleanliness and organization in line with 5S principles.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quality Technician, with experience using micrometers, calipers, CMM, and other measuring devices.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Strong knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience using CMM and optical measurement systems.
- Knowledge of quality standards such as IATF 16949 and AS 9100.
- Familiarity with PPAP, control plans, and PFMEA is preferred.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Ability to sit for long periods and work in above ambient temperatures.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to strictly follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Strong organizational skills and high attendance standards.
