ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

Plan, direct, or coordinate human resources activities and staff.  Responsible for conducting investigations in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and policies.

OBJECTIVES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1.    Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems.

2.    Advise managers on organizational policy matters, such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes.

3.    Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and endure compliance with legal requirements.

4.    Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, firing employees, and administering disciplinary procedures.

5.    Investigate employee issues and conflicts and resolve.
6.    Ensure the organization’s compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

7.    Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
8.    Provide orientation/on-boarding training to new hires.
9.    Prepares and maintains records and reports.
10.  Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelors’ degree in human services, labor relations, organizational development, business or related field; relevant work experience may be a substitute. Masters’ degree preferred, with 2 years experience.
