About the job
The HR Business Partner, Director plays a key role in advancing the company’s HR strategy, supporting its culture, engagement, and operational excellence at headquarters. Reporting to the VP of Human Resources, this position acts as a trusted partner to leadership and employees alike, ensuring alignment of HR strategies with business objectives through hands-on execution.
The Director will support efforts to evolve the company’s HR processes and lead key cultural development and employee engagement initiatives, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. Success requires exceptional relationship-building skills, the ability to navigate complex challenges, and a strong focus on execution. The ideal candidate is hands-on, solutions-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
This is a hybrid position, with the expectation to work in the San Francisco office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and the option to work remotely on Monday and Friday.
What you’ll do
Leadership
- Partner with senior leaders to align HR strategies with business goals, focusing on recruitment, engagement, retention, and development.
- Act as a coach to leaders on organizational and people-related matters, providing insights and actionable solutions.
- Lead the development, refinement, and implementation of HR processes, policies, and frameworks to support a high-performance, collaborative culture.
Talent Management
- Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.
- Develop and execute programs to attract, retain, and develop top talent, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce.
- Lead performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, and career development plans.
Culture and Engagement
- Design and execute initiatives that promote a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
- Lead employee engagement strategies, including feedback mechanisms and recognition programs.
- Plan and manage initiatives, events, and workshops to foster a sense of community and deepen employee alignment with company values.
Employee Relations and Compliance
- Provide guidance to managers and employees on complex employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and investigations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, regulations, and internal policies, proactively addressing risks and maintaining best practices.
- Develop training and development programs to enhance management capabilities and employee effectiveness.
HR Operations
- Support compensation and benefits planning in collaboration with the Total Rewards team, ensuring market competitiveness.
- Utilize data-driven insights to measure the effectiveness of HR programs and make informed recommendations for improvements.
- Support organizational change management initiatives, including process improvement and system implementations.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of HR leadership experience.
- Experience in an apparel retail environment and supporting corporate teams.
- Proven ability to deliver HR solutions that align with and support the overarching HR strategy.
- Strong knowledge of talent management, employee relations, and HR compliance.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Actual starting pay for this role is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to qualifications, experience, relevant skills,, education, and geographic location.
