The Cashier assists and checks-out customers with store purchases; receives, sorts, prices, and prepares donated items for placement in the store. From its early beginnings of seeking donations to process and offer for sale, to the current operation of five stores in Adrian, Monroe, Dundee, Lambertville and Saline, doing industrial work for local industries and providing a wide range of training and employment services, Goodwill Industries continues to assist persons with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

Job Summary: Assists and checks-out customers. Sorts, prices, and prepares donated items for placement in the store.

Essential Functions:

1. Assists customers.

2. Greets and assists donors with unloading donations and donation receipts on a limited basis.

3. Accomplishes assigned cleaning routine.

4. Provides courteous, accurate, and timely customer service as trained and stated in the store manual.

5. Uses cash register to check-out customers.

6. Keeps shelves stocked with merchandise, keeps displays neat and orderly, restocks clothing racks, and hangs clothes as necessary.

7. Inspects donated items for overall quality and determines disposition of items based on store manager's direction.

8. Places items in appropriate locations for pricing and/or distribution.

9. Separates seasonal items and places them in appropriate locations.

10. Prepares clothing racks and household items for the store according to the store quality and pricing standards.

11. Uses pricing machine, adhesive price tags and tagging gun to price items in accordance with store standards and Store Manager direction.

12. Meets or exceeds goals and standards of production and quality.

13. Assists in the training of workers and consumers in cooperation with the Workforce Development Department staff. Additional

10. Maintains safety standards in area of responsibility and throughout store and facility.

11. Responsible to maintain accuracy of cash drawer and paperwork.

12. Carries out additional duties assigned by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience in sales preferred.
