East Los Angeles Dog and Cat Hospital is a well-established, progressive, fast-paced small animal practice located in East Los Angeles, California. The hospital is staffed with a full-time veterinarian and additional on-call veterinarians as needed. East Los Angeles Dog and Cat Hospital offers many services to provide the best comprehensive care to our patients, including Preventative Care, Surgery, Urgent Care, High In-House Diagnostics, Digital full body radiology, Ultrasonography, Boarding, and more.
East Los Angeles is known for its hot-summer Mediterranean climate. This area is part of the Los Angeles and Montebello districts. Families can choose to move into one of the largest school districts in the country and take advantage of excellent magnet and charter school placement options or can commute from neighboring cities with award-winning public schools. This part of Los Angeles is an ideal area to raise a family! From the office, you would be within an hour's drive to the beach, hiking trails, and various Los Angeles-based theme parks (Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios, and Magic Mountain). In winter, East Los Angeles is two hours from the Big Bear skiing community. Alternatively, live minutes from the office in the rapidly developing downtown corridor where investors are building restaurants and housing in the heart of Los Angeles, enjoying Disney Hall, the Broad Museum, Staples Center, and more!
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Pet restraint
- Triage incoming patients
- Collection and analysis of lab samples
- Diagnostic imaging
- Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
- Administration of medications
- Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
- Surgical preparation and assistance
- Anesthetic management
Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications
- An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience preferred.
- Compassionate, calm, team player, multi-tasker, and strong communicator.
- Must be able to properly restrain pets.
- Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus!
- Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Pay Range: $17-18/hr
