Job Summary:

The Waste/Recycling Site Supervisor performs a crucial role in overseeing the

daily operations of the recycling facility and staff, ensuring compliance with all work and

safety policies and procedures. Responsibilities include management of staff, maintaining and

tracking staff hours and attendance and fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.


Duties:

  • Provide direct supervision and training to all contracted staff employed at the Material Recycling Facility (MRF).
  • Act as the front-line point of contact for management with the authority to make field decisions on behalf of the Contractor.
  • Schedule staff and ensure all positions are properly staffed daily.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are fully aligned.
  • Ensure all contracted staff maintain full compliance with company and facility policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring seamless staff integration.
  • Monitor and track working hours of staff for payroll processing.
  • Manage utilization and compliance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment.
  • Assist with manual sorting of recyclable materials at the presort stations, paper lines, OCC lines, and plastics lines.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to staff evaluations, employee counseling, audits, and incident tracking.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Management.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass a drug screening.
  • Move at a fast pace with speed and accuracy.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Possess working knowledge of the precautions necessary to work safely with and around heavy equipment and public works equipment.
  • Knowledge of recycling facility operations and waste management practices.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and commitment to creating a safe working environment.
  • Must be able to wear steel toed boots.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience managing a Material Recycling Facility (MRF) workforce.
  • Alternatively, 4 years of experience managing a solid waste, construction, or industrial workforce with 25 employees or greater can be substituted for MRF experience.


Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in Confined Space, Lock Out Tag Out and/or Fall Protection is preferred, however not required.


Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment background check.
  • Perform manual labor for extended shifts and possible weekends.


Work Hours:

  • Day Shift between (4:30am-4:30pm)
