We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role involves managing both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions. The ideal candidate will possess advanced Excel skills and a strong understanding of accounting principles, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Accounting Specialist will contribute to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly close processes, and working collaboratively with other teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable (AP):
Process and manage vendor invoices and payments in a timely manner.
Review, verify, and reconcile discrepancies in accounts and invoices.
Coordinate with internal departments to resolve payment-related issues.
Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws in all transactions.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes related to accounts payable.
Accounts Receivable (AR):
Oversee the accurate and timely invoicing of clients and customers.
Monitor customer accounts for timely payments, aging reports, and follow up on overdue balances.
Communicate with customers regarding outstanding invoices, payment terms, and payment issues.
Record cash receipts and apply payments to the appropriate accounts.
Assist in preparing aging reports and conducting account reconciliations.
General Accounting & Reporting:
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Help ensure accurate accounting entries are recorded in the general ledger.
Assist in preparing data for audits and responding to audit inquiries.
Maintain and update accurate records for both AP and AR processes.
Excel & Data Analysis:
Utilize advanced Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas) for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation tasks.
Analyze financial data and generate reports to support decision-making and operational needs.
Track and report on key financial metrics and trends.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Experience:
2+ years of experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
Skills:
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
