BASIC FUNCTION OF ACCOUNTING TRAINEE:
Learn how to support the fiscal department with financial and accounting operations including internal and external financial reporting, administrative controls, and adherence to reporting schedules and timelines. Perform research and analysis on various accounting and finance matters. Assist with the implementation of module of ERP system.

Education:
High School Diploma and attending institution of higher learning -studying Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.
Experience:
Complete internship at any of the following: NOI fiscal department, outside fiscal department or a CPA firm.

BASIC FUNCTION OF ACCOUNTING TRAINEE:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF ACCOUNTING TRAINEE:
Learn how to :
- Participate in all accounting and analysis related to the general ledger, including entries, reconciliations and monthly reporting and maintenance. Active in monthly Board reporting.
- Prepare financial reports for review by the Controller, including external compliance, year-end and internal management summaries and statements.
- Work with members of the management team to meet funder parameters and requirements.
- Assist Controller and CFO with year-end external audit process for New Opportunities and affiliated companies.
- Meet established timelines and performs all duties in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Adhere to fiscal policies and procedures regarding Agency approval and authority guideline.
- Inputs and reconciles financial data in the Agency systems; identifies any discrepancies impacting Agency assets and exposurure.
- Implement new accounting-related pronouncements and requirements.
- Assist with business process redesign on accounting and financial work flow to improve productivity, quality and efficiency.
- Maintain Company system of fixed assets, recording additions and disposals, monthly depreciation and reconciliation.
- Utilize Company payroll system for related entries and assignments.
- Work with for Federal programs including budgeting, reporting and drawdowns from PMS system.
- Pursue personal professional development in accounting and systems technology.
- Provide functional direction to other Fiscal Department staff members when needed.
REQUIREMENTS OF ACCOUNTING TRAINEE:
Education:
High School Diploma and attending institution of higher learning -studying Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.
Experience:

- Accounting and financial management skills, based on generally accepted accounting principles.
- Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and meet established time frames and accounting schedules.
- Good communication skills.
- Organizational, recordkeeping and reporting skills.
- Strong computer skills, including excel, word and financial systems, (Blackbaud Financial Edge).
- Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to supervise a small number of people.
