The Accounting Intern position, under general supervision, completes routine accounting support and bookkeeping related duties to support the financial systems, reports, and information. Provides customer support that includes problem solving, answering questions, and resolving issues.

  • Assists in research and analysis pertaining to standard cost integrity.
  • Responds to inquiries and contacts other departments or vendors to resolve a variety of problems.
  • Responsible for data entry to accounting and other basic financial systems, as well as supplying data and basic financial records for reports.
  • Serves as back-up for Accounts payable and Accounts receivable functions.
Productivity / Job Knowledge 20%
  • Provides general and clerical support to the Accounting team.
  • Handles daily routine accounting transactions and matters.
  • Follows established methods and procedures for financial record keeping and reporting.
  • Prepares journal entries to general ledgers, and invoice entry to accounts payable.
  • Works with Assistant Controller in preparation of internal accounts audit
  • Assist with month-end close procedures

Requirements

Qualifications and Essential Skills:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance, required. Classified as a Junior or Senior, preferred.
  • Possess basic understanding of general accounting principles and/or solid understanding of bookkeeping principles: including double entry bookkeeping. Thorough understanding of assigned accounting related function.
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of ERP systems, reporting packages, and a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet. Employee may be exposed to shop environment while distributing documents to shop area. When on shop floor, employee will be required to wear safety glasses at all times, steel-toed footwear and ear protection when job demands presence in areas outside safety zones and gloves when handling material. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration, and occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the plant shop environment is moderately loud.
