The Accounting Manager, under general direction of the Associate VP for Business and Controller and the CFO is to assist the CFO, Controller and the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis with various financial matters, including, but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance and analysis, reconciliation, cash flow and budget analysis and audit preparation. The position oversees the daily operation of accounts receivables staff.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

  • Reconciles various bank accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for monthly general ledger close.
  • Maintain the fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
  • Under the direction of the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis, assist with any budget preparation and budget analysis.
  • Perform general ledger account analysis and reconciliation, as requested.
  • Assists in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including variance reports. Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
  • Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis.
  • Analyze and reconcile various balance sheet accounts.
  • Assists with the preparation of a multi-year budget model and any and all forecasting as part of the preparation.
  • Provides technical support and accounting and financial information to campus community through research and analysis of data.
  • Assists with maintaining the various budget and cash flow models utilized to manage the College.
  • Provide backup assistance as needed to other support staff positions in the Business Office.
  • Provide backup assistance as needed to the AVP for Business and Controller as it relates to endowment accounting, reconciliations, and/or special projects.
  • Completes a monthly cross-check of cash forecast entries for accuracy as completed by the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis.
  • Completes a cross-check review of annual budget materials for accuracy as prepared by the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis.
  • Assist AVP and Controller in preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Updates GL with fixed asset entries.
  • Supervises accounts receivables staff.
Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

Experience: 2-4 years of experience in accounting, auditing or finance. Experience with grant accounting is preferred. CPA is preferred.

Skills: Strong technical accounting skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), experience working with accounting information systems, a team player with good customer service skills, ability to work independently and within a group.
