FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Department: Admin

Reports To: Controller

Schedule: 7:30AM – 4:30PM, M - F

Location: 1110 Disher Dr. Waterville OH, 43566

Basic Job Functions:

  • Seagate Plastics is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant/Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for numbers, strong analytical skills, and a desire to learn and grow within our organization. As a Junior Accountant, you will support various accounting functions and assist in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Additionally, Administrative responsibilities such as answering phone calls, and interacting with visitors, customers and vendors is required.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of computer operation, able to operate Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel at an advanced level.
  • Excellent Attention to detail and great organizational skills.
  • Familiar with general accounting skills, payable processing, receivable invoicing & cash applications.
  • Able to operate general office equipment such as fax and multi-purpose machines, computer printers, etc.
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers, visitors, management and co-workers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in person, over the phone and email.  
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents such as customer orders and inquiries.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Acts as primary company receptionist and directs callers appropriately.
  • Receives/greets all visitors and assures proper direction of visitors, keeps visitor log.
  • Answers customer inquiries within the scope of his/her area of responsibilities.
  • Assists with the daily posting of packing slips after shipment occur.
  • Assists with the invoicing of said packing slips, then keeps a log of all invoices by day / branch.  Scans & files all invoices   A couple times per month, may have to balance manual spreadsheet totals to system totals and find variances.
  • Assists Controller with matching packing slips to payable invoices, stamps & codes for approval.
  • 1-2 times per week, enters payable invoices, may proof work using provided report, scans/attaches/files correctly.
  • Matches paid payable invoices with payment stubs after checks/vouchers are created, then files all paid invoices.
  • Distributes all invoices to customers via mail, fax or email then scans/attaches/files invoices daily into customer files.
  • Communicates aged accounts to customers / maintains customer account system notes; Prepares an Over-60 report daily prior to morning shipping meetings.
  • Performs Monthly Inventory Tasks at the advice of Controller.
  • Manages general ledger accounts monthly at the advice of Controller.
  • Performs customer collections & other general clerical tasks such as typing, filing, ordering supplies, etc.
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned by management or the Controller.

  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis
  • Will lift, push, or pull up to 27 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction is required
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)
