Hours: 5 hours per day (9 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.), 201 Days per Year

Salary: Secretary Salary Schedule (Tier C)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Communications Secretary supports the front desk at the district administration center and assists the communications team with digital content, including managing the website and social media. We're looking for someone with strong customer service skills, exceptional writing abilities, and a talent for quickly mastering new technologies.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

* High School Diploma or equivalent.

* Must present transcripts of the highest level of education within thirty (30) days of hire.

* Passing a basic skills test based on the requirements of the position.

* Employment history in a similar position(s).

* Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

* Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position.

* Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within thirty (30) days of hire and yearly thereafter.

* Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

* Strong written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

* Knowledge of digital communications, graphic design, or a related field.

* Knowledge of creating and updating website content.

* Knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other graphic design software.

* Ability to multitask, prioritize and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

* A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, or a related field.

* Biliteracy in English and Spanish.

* Demonstrated experience with social media platforms for a work environment.

* Demonstrated experience with video and photo editing tools to create social media content.

* Successful secretarial or support experience in an educational setting.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Provide support at the front desk by handling inquiries and assisting visitors and demonstrating exceptional customer service skills.

* Provide support maintaining the district's websites, ensuring content is current, engaging, user-friendly, and ADA compliant.

* Supporting the development of social media content across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn to increase engagement and brand awareness.

* Draft visually appealing graphics and multimedia content for digital communication channels.

* Support school-based social media and website content coordinators with access, technical troubleshooting, and training resources.

* Compile information from various district departments and schools to post to communication channels.

* Assist with reports on the results of social media efforts.

* Assist with special events and projects as assigned.

* Other duties as assigned.

* Lifting: The employee must be able to lift or move up to 18-26 pounds; must also be able to lift overhead. The employee may be required to physically move quickly in an emergency or while performing student supervision duties.
