The Department of History at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Native American Studies with an appointment to begin Fall 2025.

Position

CSUF faculty are committed scholar-teachers whose primary responsibilities include offering and developing courses ranging from undergraduate surveys to upper-division courses and graduate-level seminars in their areas of specialization. Specific courses that this person could teach include, but are not limited to, The California Experience, American Social History, The Multiracial History of America, and Native American History. The successful candidate will have an active research agenda that focuses on Indigenous epistemologies and methodologies. Candidates whose work focuses on Native American histories are encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in History or related field (e.g., Native American Studies, Ethnic Studies, American Studies) with an emphasis in Native American Studies or a related field; Ph.D. required by time of appointment.
• A strong foundation and training in Native American histories
• A commitment to providing high-quality education
• Potential for and/or demonstrated ability to teach students with diverse backgrounds at the undergraduate and graduate level
• Potential for and/or evidence of scholarship related to Native American histories

Compensation

The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $6,221 to $13,224 monthly (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $7,924 to $8,067 per month.
