Description of Position
Associate Professor, Cybersecurity/Networking
Hiring Range: $57,857.25 - $70,617.98
This is a 12 Month Faculty
Up to $3,000 Relocation Reimbursement
Reporting to the Department Chair, the incumbent will teach discipline specific courses as needed using a variety of methodologies. Responsibilities will include course preparation and instruction; program and class recruitment; curriculum development; participation in the on campus college community and continued professional growth activities; and creative program building based on needs assessment and in collaboration with other faculty. May be asked to teach other courses in disciplines in which she/he is able to be credentialed. Course load will include in-person courses, including dual enrollment courses in an area high school.
The Faculty member will be the primary instructor in at least 5 sections, serve on faculty committees, and build and maintain courses as needed (to include syllabus, Canvas Shell and text as needed.)
The successful faculty member recognizes that service to our students is our highest priority, and embraces their role in student success, recruitment, and retention. This includes being open to a variety of delivery methods and course design with the possibility of interactive, online, day, evening, weekend classes and/or teaching at various College locations and/or in the high school/college dual enrollment programs. In addition, faculty should be open to both traditional (16 week) and compressed course design (i.e., 8 week classes). Faculty can expect to participate in innovative forms of assessment and should be willing to utilize OER when possible.
The expectation is that full-time faculty serve as provisional faculty for a period of three years prior to being reviewed for continuing status. The determination of faculty status is, however, ultimately at the discretion of the College President as the Yavapai College District Governing Board's designee.
Minimum Expectations & Requirements
Credentialing Requirements for Faculty Teaching Coursework in Occupational Terminal Degree Programs
1. Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Cybersecurity; OR
2. Associate's degree in Information Technology or Cybersecurity; OR
3. Five (5) years of recent work experience in the field to be taught; OR
4. Specialized certifications in the field to be taught may be considered for a terminal degree and certificate programs only.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
Recent experience in computer networking technology or cybersecurity
Industry certifications in Information Technology or Cybersecurity
Knowledge of local area networking, routing, and switching technologies
Knowledge of operating systems including Windows Server and Linux
Experience teaching in the online classroom and in "non-traditional" settings to students
Experience in curriculum development and assessment
Experience with Canvas and teaching online and in hybrid environment
Experience designing OER courses
Experience teaching community college or adult learning environments and with diverse populations
Experience with multi-media technology to enhance student learning
