Job Description
Position Summary
Performs routine teller transactions as frontline Member Service to all who visit or call our financial institution. Recaps daily transactions and prepares cash drawer balance sheet. Opens new accounts. Performs other routine clerical tasks as required. Works in a team environment of cross/ trained professionals.
Primary Responsibilities
Realizes that Member Service is the top priority for this position
Opens/ Closes accounts. Communicates with members and non- members, assesses needs, and assists or responds to inquiries in person or by phone and/or e-mail. If service request is not within the scope of the member service representative duties, refers to other departments.
Posts deposits and loan payments. Disburses share withdrawals by cash or check. Handles purchases of all monetary instruments, gift cards, or any specialty options offered by the credit union.
Cross sells all credit union products and services; refers members to appropriate departments as required or needed.
Handles IRA and Trust accounts, redeems Savings Bonds and encodes temporary checks for members.
Reviews periodic core banking system reports as assigned.
Provides routine information about the credit union such as: eligibility for membership, account types, branch locations, office hours, credit union policy, etc.
Balances and accounts daily for assigned cash and transactions; summarizes daily transactions and forwards to the Branch Supervisor. Conducts Branch/Vault balancing as assigned.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Completes all required training as assigned.
Qualifications
Must be familiar with cash handling, have accuracy and attention to detail for posting teller transactions, possess sales/ people persuasion skills to cross sell products and services. It is expected that one will maintain professionalism at all times, have keen computer data entry accuracy skills and have a good understanding of general business software programs and machinery (ten key and typing required). This position requires mental alertness to prioritize work load and complete daily tasks timely, in a fast paced environment. Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read, carry out written instructions and follow oral instructions. Will interact with members and staff daily.
Physical Requirements:
Performs primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting to 20 lbs. Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in a climate controlled office environment. Must be able to go up and down stairs/ ladders when required. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer (keyboard/ten key) for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to operate routine office equipment (phone, copier, fax, calculator, etc.) Must be able to work extended hours when required or requested. Must be capable of regular and timely attendance.
