Global Product Planner
Location: Hybrid, Indianapolis, IN

Job Description:
  • Accountable to ensure global product availability for a defined product portfolio including but not limited to availability at all regional and central warehouse locations
  • Responsible for the creation and accuracy of the supply planning based on global demand input, aligned with manufacturing/supplier capabilities including considerations around impact of product lifecycle.
  • Accountable to liaise with functional leads and lifecycle teams to ensure product availability during launch and phase-out periods of products.
  • Accountable to set global safety levels for the defined product portfolio including but not limited to continuous monitoring thereof.
  • Responsible to provide robust recommendation to manufacturing/supplier on rough cut capacity planning (RCCP) and master production schedule (MPS)
  • Accountable to initiate escalation processes regarding global product availability as well as needed initiation of S&OP meetings for defined product portfolio.
  • Responsible for accuracy and continuous adjustment of master data (MRP)
  • Responsible for global product allocations in collaboration with other supply chain functions, regional functions, lifecycle teams and manufacturing/supplier
  • Responsible for batch reservations and other logistics interventions (incl. to ensure product flow in emergencies) for the defined product portfolio
  • Participates in global initiatives across Dia supply chain
  • Where applicable, will be responsible for completing regional activities required to ensure product availability
  • Where applicable, assumes subject matter expert role for a product planning related process.
  • Responsible for ensuring processes reflect real life business scenarios.

Product Planning Core Tasks
Procurement and Production Planning/ Bottleneck Management.
  • Develops the supply plan based on demand input from Global Commercial Supply Chain and the GSC internal strategic requirements. Submits the supply plan to internal and/or external suppliers.
  • Works closely with internal and/or external suppliers to ensure compliance with the plans. In the event of deviations, close coordination with partners to minimize negative impact on customer supply.
  • Monitors lead times, run-time critical batches and optimization of the planning parameters to avoid destruction costs and delivery disruptions.
  • Monitors plan compliance and initiates necessary clarifications as part of the Supply Review of the S&OP process, in the event of non-compliance.
  • Monitors schedule adherence initiating discussions on concerns/issues in the manufacturing/OEM Supply Review Meetings/weekly/ad hoc meetings.
  • Monitors system warning signals (alerts) indicating current or potential supply shortages throughout the chain. Develops solutions to minimize the impact on end customers.
  • Works with global product management to determine country specific allocations in case of shortages. Liaise with Global Commercial Supply chain on unusual demand trends and supply constraints. Informs regions, business areas and branches of current and potential bottleneck products.
  • Prepares and participates in S&OP meetings with planning interfaces
  • Collaborates with manufacturing on rough cut capacity planning (RCCP) and master production schedule (MPS)
Planning Parameters
  • Is responsible for the continuous optimization and accuracy of planning parameters in the global and local systems, as directed by GSC management (both in the direct supply and replenishment processes).
  • Provides direction and guidance to local partners regarding planning parameters.
  • Performs periodic reviews of set planning parameters.
  • Identifies discrepancies and makes necessary adjustments.
Inventory Management
  • Controls in-store inventories as well as replenishment plans and key GMI relevant parameters for globally planned products.
  • Is responsible for the availability of goods for direct supply customers from regional warehouses.
  • Responsible for replenishment of store warehouses according to specified service target for local customer delivery.
  • Responsible for achieving delivery service targets at the lowest possible total cost (distribution cost, inventory and destruction cost).
Life Cycle Management
  • Manages the life cycle process for products according to predefined and standardized rules and strategies. Creates planning scenarios for simple new launches and discontinued products in order to make risks and costs transparent. Reconciles Launch and phase-out plans with business area and production representatives.
Interface management with business areas.
  • Is responsible for the coordination and transparency of logistical life cycle issues with the IBLs/IPMs (International Business Lead/International Product Manager) and the corresponding Life Cycle Teams.
  • Reviews and challenges life cycle plans of business areas and stores and escalates critical deviations. Analyzes destruction potentials and costs and tracks cause-related cost allocation.
Data Management
  • Is responsible for data management within the Life Cycle process (Master data, registration and implementation/expiration dates).
  • Informs all relevant interface partners to ensure transparency and consistency throughout the logistics chain. Initiates corrective actions.
  • Is responsible for the application of the new KPI concept (Key Performance Indicators) for launch and discontinued products.

Education requirements.
  • High school diploma / A-Levels
  • Bachelor degree in related field desired
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
  • At least 3 years in the environment of logistics, marketing or production, with an international focus.
  • Logistical concepts and processes,
  • Microsoft Office applications.
  • Negotiation skills
