Job Description
Specialty Medical Office in Glen Burnie, MD is seeking a Full Time trained Medical Assistant.
Medical Assistants perform routine clinical and administrative duties under the direct supervision of a physician.
Clinical Duties:
- vitals, bringing back patients, setting up for procedures
- phlebotomy skills is a plus
- preparing lab specimens for pick-up
- scheduling imaging studies
- prior auth forms for medications
Administrative Duties:
- answering telephones, greeting patients,
-updating and filing patients' medical records using an EHR,
-handling correspondence,
-scheduling appointments when necessary,
Duties include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, assisting during diagnostic examinations, and prepping injectable medications.
Medical Assistants collect and prepare laboratory specimens, and prepare for pick-up. They instruct patients about medications and special diets, prepare and administer medications as directed, authorize drug refills as directed, telephone or send e-prescriptions to the pharmacy, and draw blood. They also facilitate communication between the patient and other health care professionals.
