Job Description
Student office assistant duties include assisting faculty and staff, clerical and receptionist tasks; including, filing, data entry, copying, scanning, drafting and editing documents, answering phones and assisting visitors to the office. Other duties may include assisting with the departmental website, scheduling appointment, running on-campus errands and other duties as assigned. Office assistants normally work 10-15 hours per week.
Successful candidates will have strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as being self-motivated, reliable, and able to work diligently.
This position requires a self-starter who can multi-task, think creatively, learn quickly, solve problems, see tasks through from beginning to end, and use of discretion in handling confidential information
Student hourly positions working for the AE department will have GPA reviews at the end of each semester. If the KU GPA drops below 3.0, the position can be terminated.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum KU GPA of 3.0
- Proficient in MS Office as evidenced by application materials.
- During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must:
- have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or
- be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or
- be enrolled in summer session or
- be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be for undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum KU GPA of 3.25
- Prior office experience.
- Proficient in Adobe DC.
- Prior customer service experience.
- Web design, Drupal, or HTML experience.
- Non-engineering student.
- Federal Work Study student.
