Assistant Production Manager Job at Alter Trading Corp in Davenport

The Assistant Facility Manager assists in overseeing the two shift 24 hour 4-5 days a week operation of Alter’s Advanced Technology Processes ATP Facility, improving metals recovery and product quality. As part of the leadership team, this position will assist in managing 25-30 employees and overseeing the annual budgeted operating costs, heavy mobile equipment, product quality, etc.

ABOUT THE JOB:

• Supervises production, maintenance, supervisory and administrative employees including hiring, discipline, and terminations as necessary.
• Responsible for the profit and loss for ATP facility. Impacts this outcome through maximizing production and recoveries, employee and equipment productivity, and careful control of expenses.
• Responsible for requesting sales, containers, and coordination of all outbound shipments for timely monthly sales
• Ensures outbound product standards meet customer quality requirements. Works with marketing to communicate issues with supplied feed stock to suppliers and identify solutions ensuring customer requirements are met.
• Responsible for safety and environmental compliance for the operation and its personnel. Leads safety improvement activities and is actively engaged in Alter’s safety program. Takes action to ensure ongoing compliance to landfill, storm water and other environmental requirements.
• Manages spare parts inventory, preventative and emergency maintenance of all equipment in the operation to ensure preservation of capital investment and minimization of unplanned downtime.
• Diligently and accurately tracks production volumes on a daily basis. Enters this information into existing spreadsheets and IT systems to ensure accurate reporting of financial results and appropriate pricing of feed stock.
• Performs other responsibilities as assigned or directed.

ABOUT YOU:

• Mechanically included
• Prefer Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or other related curriculum, but experienced manufacturing leaders should apply regardless of formal education.
• 5-7 years recent and relevant experience in managing a production workforce and process in an industrial environment
• Must be familiar with maintenance management in order to direct maintenance employees.
• Able to utilize Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel to communicate and track information.
• Must have excellent open communication style to carry out ongoing dialogues in a way that creates trust and confidence within all levels of the company.
• Ability to travel occasionally to other facilities or customers as needed. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Open to future relocations, strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in continuously improving manufacturing effectiveness.
