Overview:

Engineering Assistant Manager is responsible for developing detailed processes to assemble chassis/cockpit/front-end module and preparing facilities to mass production. The incumbent also develops, coordinates, and participates in new process and continuous improvement project.



Responsibilities:

(To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Specify special tools and fixtures to be used in assembly processes where required.
  • Estimate cycle times and costs for each operation in the process
  • Maintain control of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) drawings and revisions
  • Ensure that the Assembly process is capable of producing parts to customers' specifications
  • Modify the process and update all relevant documentation when required (ex: Process Sign-Off [PSO] and other production documents)
  • Support continuous improvement of all quality-related findings
  • Maintain engineering documents according to TS 16949 requirements and transmitted information to other departments
  • Write concise and direct work instructions for assembly requirements in each operation
  • Attend production meetings as required and disseminate information to relevant team members
  • Deliver presentations to customers regarding topics such as downtime, defects, new vehicle launches, system errors, cooperative projects, and audit activities
  • Work in conjunction with the Manager to identify training needs and participate in training as required
  • Develop & implement countermeasures to support departmental KPI achievement
  • Maintain continuous improvement activities as assigned
  • Work in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations and report noncompliance
  • Report defects in protective equipment, devices, or clothing to management
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Operate in full compliance with TS 16949 system
  • Comply with and promote safety in the workplace
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on processes and procedures.
  • Assigns work and coordinates activities of all subordinate employees

Qualifications:

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
  • 5+ Years experience with one or more. (Design, Assembly production, vehicle development, facility development)

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to collaborate with any team in the plant and HQ in Korea through new project
  • Periodic New Car Development Status Consultative Meeting Operation
  • Ability to understanding or make concept for production facilities in production line
  • Ability to understanding of module function in JIS(Just In Time) Manufacturing Environment
  • Direct activities associated with maximizing profitability (cost variance, manpower, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel for documentation
  • Ability to manage projects or to achieve established deadlines (Include shutdown project)
  • Engage in program design and development stages to the launch of a new car project
  • Ability to develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Ability to improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Prepare and maintain work instruction, control plan and PFMEA
  • Ability to draw concept layout and to write specification of equipment for purchasing facilities, jigs, workstation, line side rack and etc.
  • Research and request quotations from suppliers (equipment, tool, fixtures, purchased components, etc.)
  • Experience with 2D or 3D Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) programs for reviewing module parts and facilities (Basic is Auto Cad, mostly Catia V5)
  • Other tasks as assigned

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel for documentation
  • PLC/PC Program
  • 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD/CATIA) proficiency
  • Excellent people skills to include collaboration in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment
  • Outstanding work ethic and commitment to organizational success

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

Working Conditions:

  • 50% in office, 50% on production floor or 70% in office, 30% on production floor

Travel Requirement:

  • Domestic / International travel required
