Summary
The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization and daily efficiency of the facility operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support and monitor Plant Operation's budget by controlling labor and overtime, inventory, and supply spending
- Continually improve leadership and management skills, while promoting a culture of relentless pursuit of continuous improvement, focused and data based
- Monitor and achieve production's operating metrics, such as NFPM, MMSI, percent uptime, waste reduction, safety, and housekeeping
- Promote a customer-centered culture at the plant, ensuring on-time deliveries of a quality product and supporting the development of new products and technologies
- Develop and continually improve technical knowledge of processes to continually improve and problem solve
- Build a high performing team to instill ownership of production objectives through selection, performance assessments, training, and development of teammates
- Optimize the production process to assure that quality is built-in, not inspected in. Quality levels must meet customer requirements
- Plans and implements production sequences to meet production goals. Schedule and assign the work of the departments to meet published schedule and maintain work efficiency at the highest possible level at the lowest possible cost
- Continuously monitor the quality of the work and production efficiency in the department and take necessary corrective action to remedy deficiencies
- Develops and implements standard operating procedures to promote efficiency and quality production. Creates and maintains work instructions and proper documentation on the floor
- Investigate and identify production issues, determine and remedy causes to failure to meet quality and quality standards, advise, and assist the appropriate manufacturing support departments with the implementation of corrective action
- Coordinates preventative machine maintenance to minimize production down time
- Continuously seek cost reductions and recommend improvements to procedures, process, equipment, and layout
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Minimum (5) years’ experience in one of the following: Plant Management, Operations Manager in a print/fulfillment environment
- Detailed background in commercial or in-house printing operations, along with experience in Digital, Litho, and Fulfillment equipment
- Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills on managing a minimum of 20 direct reports, with demonstrated successful experience leading a workforce of 100-150 individuals
- Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience preferred
- Perform all work and activities with honesty and integrity

Working Conditions
Must be able to perform the essential job duties. Work may be performed in an office, warehouse and/or manufacturing environment. Requires the ability to perform the following activities for most of the day: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb. In addition, requires the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to noise and be required to wear hearing protection for the duration of the shift.
