Directs and coordinates, through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with production of company products utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures and capabilities of machines and equipment. Ensures that a quality product is produced in the most efficient manner observing and preserving all safety policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works with plant management and other supervisory staff to assign, direct, review and monitor work of supervised staff to maximize productivity in the plant.
  • Point person working with support functions (scheduling, materials, engineering, QC, Safety/HR) to ensure production targets are achieved.
  • Ensures proper procedures are in place and being followed for production efficiency, quality of product, employee safety and state and federal guidelines.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments to equipment.
  • Coordinates production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Recommends improvements to production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Collaborates with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Recognizes talents and areas needing improvement in supervisory staff. Ensure developmental needs are communicated to HR department. Coach supervisors in all areas concerning production and personnel management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree preferred in Manufacturing Technology discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Significant benefit if having working knowledge of the tenants and practices of Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Experience with manufacturing of specialty vehicles, trailers, etc., helpful.
  • Self-starter that works well under minimum supervision.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Ability to perform short and long range planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills & project and program management skills.
  • Quality orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift at least 15lbs infrequently.
  • Ability to remain standing and walk for the greatest part of the shift.
