Position Overview:

The production manager will support production for the footwear department and report to the VP of production, as well as the divisional vice president. The production manager will work closely and liaise between vendors, design, product development, quality control and sales. They will act as the main support for production in facilitating cost negotiations, following up on the manufacturing of orders to drive the on-time delivery of a quality and profitable product, as well as meeting other goals. The ideal candidate is willing to take initiate and exercises strong problem-solving skills. With the support of an assistant production manager, this position will oversea PO processing, shipment matters, and whitelist files amongst other things.


Responsibilities


Vendor Relationship:

  • Communicate and follow up with overseas vendors daily.
  • Send stock and customer inquiries to vendors.
  • Request pricing from vendors.
  • Negotiate costs and calculate landed costs to check margins.
  • Identify cost saving opportunities. Cost engineer product to meet margin goals.
  • Help ensure on time deliveries.
  • Resolve any production issues.
  • Replace any underperforming factories.
  • Counter source in other countries to diversify supply chain.


Internal collaboration:

  • Create target costs to set parameters for the design team prior to the development stage.
  • Attend seasonal design presentations and all related meetings.
  • Apply customer feedback to line plans to improve sales.
  • Shop retail stores. Make note of product and retail. Identify white space opportunities.
  • Create and maintain production calendars by season. Articulate deadlines to internal team members.
  • Record adoption rate from development to production season by season.
  • Liaise between sales and production for special customer inquiries i.e., testing, packing requirements, warehouse destination.


Reporting & processes:

  • Create and maintain work in progress charts as needed.
  • Oversea style master setup & maintenance, and purchase order entry.
  • Determine the proper HTS codes for all products.
  • Follow up, review, and maintain test reports.
  • Manage master charts by brand with all style info.
  • Various reporting, markdowns – inventory analysis – sell thru – seasonal sales projections.


Operations & inbound logistics:

  • Request estimated carton dimensions and CBMs from vendors and submit to compliance to be uploaded into our ERP site.
  • Submit container projections by month to the COO.
  • Monitor orders and manage a master booking sheet for all open orders up until a shipment is arranged.
  • Analyze and assess delay request forms from overseas offices and factories. Check sales orders effected and communicate updated due date to sales.


Requirements:

  • 3-5 years’ experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of product development and production process.
  • Knowledge of line plans, time & action calendars, and WIP reports
  • Analytical with strong mathematical skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

NY Pay Transparency:

The pay range for this position is ($90,000 - $100,000) annually based on skills and experience.
