Job Description
The primary function is to provide support, guidance, and direction to the manufacturing department leads, as well as production workers. Responsible for ensuring that products being produced meet quality standards and expectations and that product labelling is correct both for individual pieces, as well as carton labelling.
M-F 3:30 pm-2 am. $27.00-$29.00 per hour.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Oversee production workers assigned to the sheet metal shop departments, through delegation help to manage the fabrication of product and enforce company policies and work schedules.
- Work with Production Manager, Production Assistant, Safety Manager, and other sources to provide training in safe and efficient operational use of sheet metal manufacturing tools and equipment.
- Provide leadership and problem-solving assistance to department leads. Assure that project specifications, SMACNA and standards are adhered to and the safest, most efficient and cost-effective methods are utilized in the manufacturing process.
- Work with the shop scheduling team to determine an appropriate schedule and make work assignments to balance workload among production personnel. Share in the division’s responsibility to meet schedule commitments in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
- Interface with Production Assistant to update and report work in progress and upcoming scheduled work. Plan manpower and working hours necessary to meet delivery dates.
- Help department lead persons review all paperwork is properly filled out and reported into the computer system.
- Willingness to help train new team members on how to fill out needed paperwork and report into the computer system.
- Coordinate deliveries with Logistics Coordinator for final shipping schedule. Ensure all required shipping paperwork is correct and completed in a timely manner prior to shipment.
- Interface and coordinate with Production Assistant (Detailing, Fabrication, Logistics, Safety, and Spooling) any deficiencies that impact accomplishing work—i.e., problem resolution and constructability issues of fabricated components, safety concerns, material shortages, drawing errors, noncompliance issues, etc.
- Work to ensure proper types and quantities of materials (stock, consumables, specialized, etc.) required for the manufacturing process are readily available in advance to allow for the planned manufacturing process to proceed efficiently.
- Enforce LEAN Manufacturing principles and oversee quality control measures including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Quality Workmanship as directed.
- Help when necessary to perform inventory counts on all sheet metal related materials/items as required.
- Other duties as assigned by Manufacturing Superintendent.

- High school degree or GED; minimum 3 years related experience or combination of experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
- General knowledge of products and pricing.
- Keen attention to detail and good analytical skills.
- Flexible, organized, and able to work under time constraints and deadlines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with teammates, direct reports.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under time constraints and strict deadlines.
- Self-motivated and willingness to take initiative.
- Safety cautious individual geared towards the wellbeing and development of their team.
- Ability to prioritize, coordinate and perform multiple activities in a timely manner.
- Intermediate working knowledge of PC environment and MS Office programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with Harris Data Systems a plus.
- Forklift and Crane Certified.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
- Familiarity with general office procedures.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to effectively communicate with customers and staff to make an accurate assessment of customer and branch needs.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to verify and calculate figures such as square footage, weight per unit of measure. Must be able to read a tape measure and understand fractional measurements. Ability to convert fractional measurements to decimal equivalent.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Ability to use sound judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze customer, branch and employee problems and to recommend the proper course of action. Ability to organize and prioritize job projects and requirements.
COMPUTER SKILLS: The job requires strong computer skills including intermediate level proficiency with the ability to master new computer applications quickly. This includes business software applications, and the Microsoft software packages.

Attendance is required Monday through Friday within normal business hours as established by Manufacturing Superintendent. Employee may be occasionally required to work Saturdays and Sundays and overtime as needed. Your attendance must be used to show and set an example to other staff members you are over seeing and guiding.
