Description

The Production Planners is responsible for the planning and smooth running of our production processes within the Skeeter factory setting. He/she will report to the Administrations Manager and draw up a schedule of work, which is agreed upon with the production manager or director of manufacturing. Using the company's ERP the schedule contains details of the materials and machines to be used, cost of materials, mechanical and human resources, the time required to do the job, and the quality standards to be met.

The Production Planner is responsible for making sure the schedule is being followed during the multiple production stages. They gather regular information on progress and deal quickly with any problems, such as a shortage of staff or materials and machinery breakdowns. They liaise with production supervisors, management, the company's purchasing department and outside suppliers of materials. Computer systems such as Sys2K (current state) and Dynamics F&O (future state) will be used for data analysis, scheduling, and resource planning allocation.

The Production Planners works a schedule of a 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday onsite at multiple factory shop locations i.e. (fab shop, assembly shop, chassis shop). The Production Planner is mainly an office-based job, but also will spend time out on the factory shop floor checking up on work order progress and capacity checks. Even though we keep a clean 5-S environment whenever possible the shops will vary depending upon the goods being produced and, in some cases, may be dusty, dirty, hot, or noisy. The Production Planner must wear safety gear while in the shop environment as directed by our safety guidelines.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • To always act and behave in a way compliant with all company guidelines and policies, especially those relating to values and behaviors, environmental health and safety, ethics, and codes of conduct.
  • Coordinate with all departments to ensure the production plan is achieved on time with efficient movement of materials while proactively managing issues.
  • Plan and manage all production BOM activities including Work in Process (WIP) demand for those materials.
  • Plan and coordinate production activities in a manner to achieve WIP and inventory objectives and accuracy.
  • Optimize the use of our ERP to manage material flow throughout the work centers.
  • Assist with Production forecast and analyzing material requirements based upon shipments, backlog, and sales forecast information.
  • Support in the scheduling and planning of outside resources regarding project completion.
  • Provide detailed reports of the work center capacity and efficiencies.
  • Support the production team in moving trucks or chassis from point A to B to get outside services done or to move to the next stage of production.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Administrations Manager.
Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • 2 years production planning or project management experience working in the manufacturing industry.
  • Experienced professional with a proven track record of continuous improvement.
  • Willing to learn the most common lean tools such as value stream mapping, pull systems, one piece flow for both production and paperwork, mistake proofing processes, level scheduling, visual factory, etc.
  • PC literate, skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Power Point.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities within established deadlines.
Physical Demands:
  • Occasionally must have the ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds to a height of 3-4 feet.
  • Must be able to frequently remain in a stationary position.
  • Work is performed indoors (office & shop setting) or outdoors in a (factory setting)
