Production Planner is responsible for developing and executing production schedules to optimize resource utilization, meet customer demand, and ensure on-time delivery. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, proficiency in SAP PP & MM, and a deep understanding of production planning for complex, high-volume environments with fluctuating demand.

Primary Activities/Duties:

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules, considering factors such as customer demand, material availability, capacity constraints, and production lead times.
  • Release production orders in SAP in alignment with the production plan.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement and production teams to ensure accurate lead times and efficient material flow.
  • Monitor production schedule adherence and identify potential bottlenecks or disruptions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Participate in production planning meetings to communicate effectively and gather relevant information.
  • Utilize advanced analytical skills to optimize resource allocation and improve overall production performance.
  • Proactively identify and resolve production issues to minimize disruptions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance production planning processes.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Requires long durations on the manufacturing floor and/or long durations in the office at a computer.  Stand, walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently throughout the work shift. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, waist level.

Mental Requirements

Work in a fast paced environment, adapt to assignment changes easily, ability to multi-task, learn office procedures and learn and use new software.  Must be detail oriented; communicate effectively via oral and written communications with all levels of employees, customers and vendors. Self-starter willing to work through and seek answers to on going new requirements. Must be able to work with minimum supervision.

Safety Requirements:

Wear safety-toed footwear, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection and additional personal protective equipment where required.

Direction & Decision Making:

Complete directives given either verbally or written, make and assist in determining logical decisions.

Relationship:

Direct Contacts: PPC Manager, Production Planning Supervisor, Production Planning U& Control Team Members, Buyers, Managers, Supervisors, Production team, sales operations, internal and external vendors and customers

Indirect Contacts:  All other departments throughout the plant

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 4-year degree in Management or Technical training or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Proven experience in production planning, preferably in a manufacturing environment with high product variability and complex constraints.
  • Advanced proficiency in SAP PP & MM, with a strong preference for APO PP/DS experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Agile mindset and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Work Environment:

Must work in both office and plant floor environment.
