Job Title: Production Manager

Reports to: President

Schedule: Day Shift - Monday to Friday (8:00 AM 5:00 PM)

  • Oversee 2nd shift operations to ensure continuity between shifts. Production Shifts are as follows:
    • 1st Shift: Monday - Friday 6:45 am - 3 pm
    • 2nd Shift: Monday Friday 2:45 pm 11 pm


Our client is a growing manufacturing company in Farley, Iowa, and they are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead and oversee operations across 1st and 2nd shifts. This role requires a strategic hands-on leader with a strong background in manufacturing to ensure production runs efficiently, safely, and at the highest quality standards.


Position Overview:

The Production Manager will be responsible for both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning, including managing schedules, resolving issues, and driving continuous process improvements. Success in this role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to build positive team dynamics, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Operations Management
    • Manage 1st and 2nd shift operations, ensuring smooth transitions between shifts.
    • Develop and manage production schedules, ensuring operational efficiency and safety compliance.
    • Lead cross-functional teams to resolve production challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Process Optimization & Cost Control
    • Implement Lean Manufacturing strategies and identify cost-saving opportunities.
    • Monitor key performance metrics to track production efficiency and quality performance.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
    • Collaborate with quality teams to meet product standards and ISO 9001 compliance.
    • Manage product launch processes and maintain low scrap rates while minimizing returns.
  • Project & Resource Management
    • Oversee new product launches and production projects to ensure timely and budget-friendly execution.
    • Coordinate resource planning, materials procurement, and equipment setup to meet production demands.
  • Team Leadership & Customer Focus
    • Support employee development, foster a positive work environment, and improve retention.
    • Collaborate with customers to ensure satisfaction and timely resolution of issues.

Position Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and quality standard processes such as APQP and PPAP.
  • Strong project management skills, including product launch experience.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and 5S principles.

Preferred:

  • Experience with production planning, materials management, and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of stamping and transfer presses.
  • Expertise in customer satisfaction and cost reduction strategies.
  • Certification in project management (PMP) or equivalent.


Working Relationships:

The Production Manager will work closely with:

  • Production Staff Engage with direct labor personnel to ensure safety, productivity, and job satisfaction.
  • Divisional Managers Ensure product is operational and effective. Coordinate schedules and assign job responsibilities.Maintain quality standards and oversee compliance efforts.
  • President Align production goals with company objectives.
  • Controller Provide input for financial reporting and material purchases.
